Overview

Maccan Bistro offers a welcoming retreat nestled in the heart of Baguio’s University Belt, located on the third-floor balcony area of the University Belt Building. Its strategic position, right in front of McDonald’s and beside the SLU main gate, makes it a convenient spot for students, locals, and visitors seeking a cozy place to unwind and enjoy well-crafted meals.

The bistro’s ambiance is notably warm and inviting, blending cozy vibes with friendly service, creating an atmosphere ideal for hanging out with friends, family, or even a quiet study break. The small balcony seating adds a breath of fresh air, perfect for those who appreciate an outdoor touch while dining in an urban setting.

Maccan Bistro’s menu strikes a balance between comfort food and a touch of gourmet. Signature dishes like Heidi’s Plate and their creamy carbonara stand out as favorites, delivering layers of flavor that appeal to both casual diners and those looking for a richer experience. The pasta offerings, including the hearty Spaghetti Bolognese and seafood varieties, provide satisfying options complemented by thoughtful garnishes and sauces. For a casual bite, their Chicken BBQ Quesadillas offer a surprising depth despite being presented in a lighter, thinner style than typically expected.

The bistro shines with its unique items such as the Matcha Oreo Freak Shake and Kelueberry Cheesecake, which add a delightful twist to the dessert line-up. House specialties like Honey Garlic Wings and Nachorella Balls bring bold, memorable tastes that reflect the kitchen’s creative flare while maintaining comfort-food appeal.

Targeting students and the local community, Maccan Bistro blends affordability with quality, offering sizzling rice meals and sandwich plates that cater to everyday dining needs without compromising flavor. The space is especially suited for those who appreciate laid-back gatherings in a visually appealing environment, often described as Instagram-worthy.

While some guests have noted minor service inefficiencies, such as slower ordering and occasional table maintenance, these do little to detract from the overall enjoyment. The absence of a dedicated restroom within the bistro is mitigated by access to the building’s common facilities. Parking is limited, which can require some planning, especially during peak hours.

Overall, Maccan Bistro stands out as a go-to spot in Baguio’s university district for anyone looking to combine good food, cozy surroundings, and a friendly vibe. Whether you’re seeking comforting pasta, crave a hearty sandwich, or want to indulge in innovative treats, this bistro delivers an experience that's both accessible and memorable.

The place in itself is quite appealing. It’s also very close to the university so it’s accessible for students. The quesadillas are a bit thinner than I’m used to but they have surprisingly good filling. The pasta is indeed good for 2. They also have sizzling rice meals that are affordable and great for students. They don’t have their own restroom inside but you can use the building’s common facility. There’s a small balcony with a few tables set up in case you want some fresh air.

The bistro was a nice place to visit with its cozy vibes and location that's just near my school. We ordered Heidi's plate, we loved every component of the plate and would recommend it to first time goers especially their carbonara. For the service, some of the tables were not cleaned and left to be noticed by customers.

Maccan Bistro is a standout for chicken wing lovers, and my top pick is the Honey Garlic Wings. The bistro's vibe is Instagram-worthy, clean, and spacious, featuring a balcony. Whether you're solo, on a date, or with friends, the seating suits all. The staff is welcoming and accommodated us even though we arrived just 20 minutes before the 7:20 PM order cut-off. What sets Wing Haven apart is its diverse and affordable menu, perfect for students. Beyond wings, they offer rice meals, pasta, and pizzas. Now, the star—the Honey Garlic Wings (comes with rice and a dip). Perfectly balanced, not too salty, not too garlicky, with a hint of sweetness. Crispy skin, moist meat, and the dip are a match made in flavor heaven. The pricing is student-friendly, a bonus for its location between two universities. In a nutshell, Wing Haven offers more than just wings—it's a delightful experience. With a welcoming ambiance and affordable, flavorful offerings, it's a must-visit in Baguio. The Honey Garlic Wings alone make it worth the trip!
